4 Year Anniversary

Alex and I celebrated 4 years of marriage this week on May 26th. We went to dinner at Bella Fresca and had a fabulous time! It was our first time to go there, but it definitely wont be our last. We both loved the ambiance and the food was delicious. It was a perfect night out.
Last year I started a list with some of the reasons why I love my husband and said I would add to it each year for our anniversary. Here are 4 reasons why I love Alex...
1. He loves the Lord and loves to share the Gospel of Christ.
2. He is a gracious provider for our family.
3. He keeps me laughing...sometimes it's with him, but most of the time it's at him.

4. His willingness to serve me in whatever capacity needed. I can go to Alex with my most serious needs and he is always there to guide, support, and encourage me. He is also a huge help around the house--taking care of Perry, doing various chores, and helping in the kitchen. A small example...I asked him to make me a sandwich the other day, and this is what he brings me minutes later

a delicious sandwich with a presentation as nice as you would get at a restaurant :-)

18 weeks

I can hardly believe that I'm already 18 weeks! Now that I'm feeling better the weeks seem to be passing by a lot faster. I went to the doctor earlier this week and had the big anatomy scan. We are so thankful that the baby looks perfectly healthy...oh, and it's still a boy! I was also pleased to find out that my cervix is still in the normal range. I had been getting a little nervous that maybe it was changing. Since we are getting into the "danger zone", I will start going for ultrasounds/appointments every 2 weeks, but because my doctor is super cautious and extremely caring, he told me to come in for an ultrasound any time I felt like it was needed. As far as baby news goes I am feeling this little boy move so much. Because he is still so tiny, all his little movements are charming and sweet....no rib kicks or harsh punches yet :-) With a hand on my belly Alex and I have even been able to feel him kicking! I couldn't believe we were able to feel him this early. I don't think it was until week 21/22 with Perry.

Dinner with friends

We had the Bowmans over for dinner this week and from my point of view, it was a great time! I went to High School with both Laura and John and then Laura and I headed to LSU where we were Freshman roommates (along with Lindsay Irvin). All that to say...we have some history! Laura and I ended up having our 1st babies just 5 weeks apart from each other, and now our 2nd ones are due exactly 3 months apart. I love that we can continue to share life's experiences with each other!
Then...
Perry (5 days old, which explains my appearance); Caroline (5 weeks)
Now...

Perry (18 months) and Caroline (19 months)
Caroline didn't want to smile for the camera, but there was plenty of smiling, giggling, and talking going on between these two!

Mother's Day

I had the most perfect Mother's Day! It was a simple day, but it felt very special. Alex made sure I was well-rested, well-fed, and well-loved...what more could a girl ask for? I got some sweet gifts and lots of kisses too! I love being a mommy to Perry and I'm so thankful that it's my full-time job.

Friday Fun

Perry and I had a very pleasant day on Friday. We spent the morning at the house and both took early naps. After lunch I was craving a snow cone, so in order to justify my indulgence, I decided to take Perry on a field trip to try one for the first time. We went to the same snow cone stand that I always went to as a child. It's the best place to go with children because they have a nice covered area for you to sit and enjoy your treats. It was a pretty day and such a fun and relaxing time for us. After getting all sugared up, we went across the street to the library. Perry mostly browsed around the aisles of the children's section and climbed into and out of the chairs. We managed to read several books, too. The rest of the day was spent playing outside at the house. I love days that are all fun and play!
Ready to order!

Cool Dude

My mom bought Perry some sunglasses and I've been trying to get him used to wearing them. Check out our cool little dude.
The next picture is of Perry after putting the sunglasses on himself. He either hasn't figured out how to put them over his ears or he's already trying to look like an LSU frat boy.

It's a BOY!

Alex and I found out last week that we are expecting a little boy!! We couldn't be more excited. I'm so happy that Perry is going to have a little brother! I'm a little on the early side of when you can find out the gender, but being that it was a boy, it was quite easy to tell! I'm now 16 1/2 weeks. I'm feeling pretty good most of the time, but still taking Zofran when I need it, which is everyday. I'm occasionally feeling little "flutters" and "pops". It's so exciting to be getting to this stage in pregnancy when you actually feel pregnant in other ways than just being sick. I'm having to wear some of my pants unbuttoned for comfort reasons, but I'm not quite ready to break out the maternity stuff. I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks for our big anatomy scan. We are continuously praying for the health of our little boy as well as an uneventful pregnancy.

Happy face
Perry,
It so amazing to think that you are now 1 1/2 years old! You are such a little guy now. You love pushing your cars around on the floor and you can entertain yourself with sticks and rocks all day. As you're growing and changing, your unique personality is coming into focus. You are acquiring new traits and interests, yet there are aspects of your character which we've observed in you since you were a baby. One example is your love for music and singing. When you hear music, you start kicking your left leg up while walking around, kind of like you're high-stepping. You'll do this when we are out at any place with music and I often wonder if people think you have a gait abnormality :-) If you're not asking to dance, you're wanting to sing songs. I make up songs and sing to you so much during the day just because you love it. I really think you're going to have a future in music somehow...we'll see! You're getting better at feeding yourself with utensils and you currently enjoy having dips for your food. Some of your new words are: dance, socks, quack quack, cracker, cup, shoes. Your speech is really taking off and you're trying to repeat more and more of what we say. When we pray at bedtime, you like to get constant kisses from us. You start by leaning in to me (because you're usually in my lap) and then you lean to daddy. This continues back and forth until we are finished praying....it's so sweet. We don't know where you got this idea from, but we absolutely adore it! You're a great sleeper. On average, you sleep 12-12.5 hrs at night and take one 2-2.5 hr. nap/day. We spend a lot of time outside during the day and you love seeing the birds and squirrels and hearing the neighborhood dogs bark.
