Perry's 2nd Birthday Party

For Perry's birthday this year I decided on a puppy dog theme since he has been SO into dogs this past year.  I (with the help of my wonderful husband) made most of the party decorations and treats and was very pleased with how everything turned out. I would like to take credit for all the creativity, but I have to admit that I copied a lot from things I saw on the internet. The party was really a lot of fun and Perry was such a cute birthday boy! All of Perry's grandparents were here, which was very special, and there were several other family members and one close friend. I liked that I was able to visit with everyone and spend time just enjoying those people who have loved our little boy for the past 2 years.
Home made invitations this year...I can take credit for that!

4 weeks

Mills is already 4 weeks old! Where has the time gone? I was looking at him yesterday and just couldn't believe how big he has gotten. I can really tell he is growing. It makes me a little sad because I know time is going to continue to fly by and before I know it I'll have another big boy running around. For now though, I'm just going to enjoy these precious moments with my baby and try to cherish every second...even when I'm exhausted and frustrated.
At 4 weeks old, Mills weighs about 9 1/2 lbs, maybe a little more. He is definitely more alert during his wake time and he loves having us talk to him. I can tell he is trying to talk back and it shouldn't be long before we hear those first coo's. He is also pretty good at tracking objects with his eyes and has great neck control--He can hold his head up quite well for his age. Mills has been a better sleeper than his big brother, but we still don't get consistent good nights. He had several nights last week where he went anywhere from 3 1/2-5 hours between feedings. The past few nights haven't been that good, so I'm hoping he gets backs on track. I'm feeding him about every 3 hours during the day (and usually cluster feed in the evenings). He could go for longer stretches for the first half of the day, but I'm too scared to let him out of fear that he will need to nurse more frequently at night to compensate. So, other than changing diapers, that about covers all of Mills' activity at this point. Oh, I should mention that he enjoys bath time now and it seems to be a very relaxing time for him. He's such an adorable little guy and the 3 of us are so in love.

Halloween 2011

Perry and Mills were puppy superheros this year for Halloween. Cheetah actually came up with that idea and made their costumes when she was here the week after Mills was born. I think their costumes turned out adorable and I loved how low-maintenance they were. Perry got to wear his to MDO one day and they both got dressed for Halloween night. On Halloween we took the boys to see their grandparents as well as The LaBordes. It was all we had time for and all we wanted to do considering Perry really wasn't old enough to trick-or-treat this year.
Cutest little superhero I've ever seen!
Faster than the speed of light!

 The perfect team!

Fall Fest

Our friends, the Wooden's, invited us to join them at their church's Fall Fest. Perry was excited to be there and it was so fun to see him "taking it all in". The boys saw this choo-choo and were set on riding it. The carts were fairly open, so Alex had to ride with Perry. You can see Beth and John Rives right behind them.
They were having a great time chugging along and "driving" the train...until it broke down! Unfortunately, the choo-choo died during their ride. I'm glad they were able to ride for a little while before that happened.

Perry petting the Sheriff's horse. I think this was the first live horse he's ever seen. He was very good and gentle.
There was a band playing some music and Perry really got into it! He was moving and grooving and looking so cute! Several people, including us, enjoyed his performance.
Doing the "leg tap". He inherited this move from his daddy.
Having fun
He also really enjoyed jumping in the bouncy house, eating the food, looking at the ponies, and just walking around. The lines got very long towards the end so he wasn't able to do all that he wanted to, but overall it was a great time!

Perry Turns 2!!

Perry's 2nd birthday was just 13 days after Mills was born. We didn't have anything big planned, but we tried to make it a special day for him. The day started with cinnamon rolls, complete with a candle so we could sing "Happy Birthday". Perry was super excited about his breakfast and devoured his cinnamon roll in seconds.

I made banana bread muffins for Perry to take to school for his birthday snack. Here is our big 2 year old ready for school.

He is showing us that he is two!
When he got home from school we made chocolate chip cookies. Perry was very helpful when it came time to "clean up".

The four of us went to Perry's favorite restaurant for dinner, Chick-Fil-A. It was our first outing as a family of 4. Mills slept while we dined.

When we got home it was time for cookies and presents. We didn't get a picture of Perry with his birthday cookie, but trust me, he loved it! Perry had several gifts to open, thanks to family and friends.
Singing "Happy Birthday" (again) while wearing his birthday hat from school.

Here he is with a picture of him and his buddy, Hilton Broyles. Chelsey was sweet to include it with his gift and Perry just LOVED looking at it!
Mae Mae brought Perry some presents so we had her snap a picture of us with our birthday boy.
Basically, Perry's birthday was full of sugar! We will continue Perry's birthday celebration with a party on November 12...more birthday pictures to come!
