Sweet Dreams (Literally)

I've mentioned recently that Perry has been getting out of his bed at night. He's actually been doing better in the past month, but last night we experienced something new. At around 3:00 a.m., I woke up to a crinkling noise coming from the den. It didn't take me long to wake up enough to realize what was going on. Perry had grabbed a box of cereal from the pantry and was having himself a little snack on the couch!!!!! He's done this before in the morning if he wakes up before us, but I couldn't believe this was happening at 3:00 a.m. It's really quite hilarious, but not in the moment. Good thing we already have a lock on our pantry door. Now we just have to remember to use it at night.

Father's Day

Perry and Mills are blessed to have the one the greatest fathers of all time! We love you, Alex.
Getting a good picture of Perry and Mills together is nearly impossible these days. This is how it usually goes....
 Perry smiles, Mills isn't looking
Mills is looking, Perry is picking his nose (that was actually the first time he had done that--haha)
Sometimes it's just better to do one at a time! Perry was done with pictures at this point, but Mills was happy to chew his finger while sitting on Daddy's lap.

Little Cowboy

This was all Perry's idea. He can't walk in the boots, but he likes to try.

8 Months

Mills,
At 8 months you are just as sweet as ever! The only times you get fussy are when you're tired or eager to eat. I say "eager to eat" and not "hungry" on purpose because these days you want to eat when we eat, regardless of how your tummy might feel. You're very good at grabbing objects and transferring them from hand to hand. I've let you try to eat cheerios, but since you haven't mastered the pincer grasp, it's a little difficult for you. You're nursing 4-5 times/day and eating 3 meals. I'm making almost all of your baby food so far. I tried giving you store bought peas, but you wanted nothing to do with it! I can appreciate that you have "good taste." You're still sleeping great at night and you usually take 3 naps per day. The 3rd nap is just a cat nap to get you to bedtime. I love going to get you after you wake up because you are so happy to see me walk in. If you're on your stomach, you start kicking your legs like a little frog swimming in the water and you pant until I grab you, at which point you usually squeal or giggle. You make me feel like the luckiest, most-loved mama in the world. However, you don't only have eyes for me...you always love to see Daddy and enjoy getting attention from Big Brother Perry. You are very aware of your surroundings and if we are somewhere unfamiliar or with "strangers", you get very serious and intense. I can just see your little mind working and processing. It doesn't take much for you to warm up and you usually give out smiles pretty easily (big difference from how Perry was). Some of your favorite things to do are read books (especially touch and feel books), go on walks, chew on toys, sing songs, cuddle and get kisses.
Milestones that you mastered during your 7th month are:
sitting up
rocking on all fours and scooting around  in your crib
babbling: ma ma, ba ba, and ga
I'm pretty sure you are teething too, but there are no teeth in sight yet.

First time taking a big boy bath! You loved it!

It's kind of hard to see in these pictures, but you have what we call "happy hair". It stands straight up all the time!

Brazil vs. Mexico

Alex and I were invited to attend the Brazil/Mexico soccer game that took place at Cowboys Stadium this past Sunday. Being a former soccer player, I was definitely looking forward to the game, but I think I was more excited about the prospect of unlimited food and drinks that would be available in the suite. Is that normal? Anyways, we decided to make a day trip so that we could travel without the boys and enjoy an adult-only trip. My mom came over Sunday morning and we hit the road at 8:30. In Dallas, we met up with the group at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. The Mansion totally lives up to its reputation and I was immediately remorseful we weren't staying the night. A couple of Hummer limousines picked us up and drove us to the stadium. It was so fun to drive past all the festivities and tailgating. Mexico fans were everywhere and their excitement was contagious. It was nearly 2:00 at this point and I had not eaten lunch, so I was about to pass out. Thankfully there was food waiting for us once we got to the suite and it did not disappoint! The game was awesome too! I was cheering for Mexico (the underdogs) and they ended up winning 2-0. It was such a huge win for them. The entire program was in Spanish, therefore I didn't understand a word, so my soccer knowledge sure came in handy. We ended up leaving Dallas at 7 and making it home right at 10. It was such a fun little getaway and just what this mama needed!
They had personalized jerseys made for everyone in the team of their choice.

Yay for Perry!

We've been wondering when Perry would figure out how to ride his little tricycle. It has a nice handle on the back, so we've been able to push him around, but have been instructing him on how to pedal in hopes he would learn soon. Last week he completely surprised me when out of nowhere he started to ride his tricycle all by himself! It was such an exciting accomplishment and I could tell Perry was very proud of himself. It's so neat to see when your kids learn how to do something new!

Go Perry!!

other new things Perry is doing:
--asking "Why, Mama/Dada?" ALL the time about EVERYTHING.
--always sings while he's in bed. One of his favorites is the Barney theme song, "I love me, I love you". The words are actually "I love you, you love me", but I think his little rendition is perfect :-)
--getting out of his bed in the middle of the night to come see us. Sometimes he will just go sit in the sunroom and we don't even know he's up until we hear a cough or sneeze. We are in the process of working on this issue. If you have any advice, please share!
--eating broccoli now and loving it. The other night I made a pizza with steamed broccoli. Perry ate all his broccoli and wasn't really eating the pizza, so I had to say, "Eat some more bites of pizza and then I'll get you more broccoli." Alex and I immediately looked at each and chuckled because we realized how crazy it sounded to be saying that! He's not crazy about all veggies though.
